Privacy policy

In short: we only collect what we need to sell you scans and answer your enquiries. We never sell your information.

Scan Foundry is a sole trader business in New Zealand, and we follow the Privacy Act 2020. If you have questions about your information, email scanfoundry3d@gmail.com.

What we collect, and why

• When you buy a scan: your name, email address and which scan you bought, so we can give you your download, send a receipt and help if something goes wrong. We also record when your file is downloaded. Payment is handled by Stripe: your card details go straight to them, and we never see or store them.
• When you send a "Book a scan" enquiry: the details you type in, such as your name, company, email, phone, vehicle, location, preferred dates and message, so we can reply and arrange the job.
• When you join our mailing list: your email address and when you signed up. See Mailing list below.
• When you "Request a scan": the vehicle you suggest and, if you choose to give it, your email address, only so we can tell you if we scan that vehicle.
• When you visit the site: like most websites, our hosting provider automatically keeps basic technical records, such as your IP address and browser type, to keep the site secure and working. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.

Who we share it with

We don't sell, rent or trade your information. We only share it with the services that help us run the shop:

• Stripe: processes payments;
• Cloudflare: hosts the website and stores order, request and download records;
• Resend: delivers our emails and stores the mailing list;
• Google: provides the 3D viewer on product pages, so their servers see your IP address when it loads.

Some of these companies store information outside New Zealand (for example in the United States or Australia). They are well-known providers with strong security and privacy protections.

We'd also share information if the law required it.

Mailing list

Joining our mailing list is optional. You're only added if you type in your email and choose to subscribe. Buying a scan, sending an enquiry or requesting a scan doesn't sign you up.

• What we send: occasional emails about new scans and offers from Scan Foundry. We don't send other companies' marketing, and we never sell or share the list.
• Where it's kept: your email is stored with our email provider, Resend.
• Unsubscribing: every email has an unsubscribe link, or you can use our unsubscribe page or email us. Once you unsubscribe, we keep a note of your address only so we never email you updates again.

How long we keep it

• Purchase records: 7 years, because New Zealand tax law requires it.
• Enquiries: as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry or job, and then for our business records.
• Scan requests: until we've scanned the vehicle and let you know, or you ask us to remove your details.
• Mailing list: until you unsubscribe.

Keeping it safe

Our site uses a secure (https) connection, our records are stored with reputable providers, and access to them is password-protected.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it or delete it. Email scanfoundry3d@gmail.com and we'll respond within 20 working days, as the law requires. If you're not happy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.

Changes

If we change how we handle your information, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
